How to Choose the Right Felted Pet Portrait Style
We make eight different felted pet portrait styles. They all start with your pet's photo and end with wool. But they vary in size, format, and price, and each one works better in different situations.
This is the "which felted pet portrait style do I actually want" guide.

Now let's look at each one properly.
2D felted pet ornaments
These are flat, lightweight, and about the size of a cup coaster. The pet's face is needle felted onto fabric, with a leather loop for hanging. Made from wool, fabric, and leather.
They work as Christmas tree ornaments, rear-view mirror charms, bag accessories, or anywhere you want something small and light. Also a decent first purchase if you want to see the quality before committing to something bigger.
They won't stand on their own and they're not a visual statement piece. They're a small, quiet reminder.
3D felted pet brooches
A miniature 3D pet head figurine that can be pinned onto clothing, or attached on the arm. About 5-8cm across.
The main use case is weddings where you want your pet "there" but they can't attend. Also works for events, pr daily wear if you're the type who wears brooches, or as a bag or hat accessory.
3D felted pet magnets and ornaments
A small, three-dimensional version of the head of your pet. Available with a magnet backing, a stand, or a hanging loop.
These end up on fridges, filing cabinets, Christmas trees, bags, or bookshelves. They're one of our better gift options because the recipient doesn't need to find wall space or make a display decision. They just stick it somewhere and it lives there.
Small 2D felted pet portrait (15x15cm frame)
A flat felted pet head portrait in a square wooden frame. The pet's face is needle felted onto fabric, with depth and texture you can see from the side, but the piece itself sits flat in the frame. Available for one pet or two pets in the same frame.
Think of it as going wherever a small framed photo would go: living room, bedside tables, bookshelves, or your office desk, so everyone can see how cute your pet is. The square format keeps it compact.
Classic 2D felted pet portrait (multiple sizes)
The workhorse of our lineup. A flat felted pet portrait in a rectangular wooden frame, pet body is revealed in this category, available in four sizes from 15x18cm up to 24x36cm. The larger sizes can fit two or three pets.
This is what most people picture when they think "felted pet portrait." It reads like a painting from across the room but has visible wool texture up close. The multi-pet option is popular for families with two or three animals.
Size guide:
- 15x18cm — one pet
- 20x26cm — one or two pets
- 22x30cm — one or two pets
- 24x36cm — two or three pets
3D felted pet portrait (framed)
Same concept as the 2D portrait but the pet's face is sculpted to physically come out of the frame. The nose, ears, and sometimes the paws extend forward, creating real depth that changes as you walk past it.
This is the one guests comment on. The 3D effect is immediate and a bit startling in person since photos don't fully capture it. If you want a conversation piece on your wall, this is probably it.
Starts at CHF 98 (EUR 108), so it's pricier than the 2D version. And some people find the 3D effect too much for their taste. That's a style preference, not a quality difference.
Sizes:
- Small ( just the head ) — frame 15-18cm, product height 9-11cm
- Medium ( head and neck ) — frame 15-28cm, product height 14-17cm
- Large ( head, front body including paws ) — product height 17-23cm
3D felted pet sculpture (full body)
A complete, freestanding sculptural pet replica. Your pet's entire body, built over a wire armature, covered in needle felted wool. It stands on its own and can be viewed from all angles.
This is the memorial piece. The one people order when they want something they can pick up and hold. The larger sizes (12cm+) have room for serious detail: individual toe pads, realistic eyes, fur that goes in the right direction. At 25-30cm, it gets close to lifelike.
The catch: sculptures sit on surfaces, they don't hang on walls. And the larger sizes take 4-6 weeks and cost accordingly (CHF 195+ (EUR 215) for 12-15cm, CHF 945 (EUR 1040) for 30cm+).
Decision shortcuts
Still not sure? Here are some common situations and what we'd suggest:
"My dog just passed and I want something serious and meaningful." 3D sculpture (medium or large) or a 3D framed portrait. These have the most emotional weight because they feel the most like having the pet there.
"I want something for my wall." Classic 2D portrait for a clean look, or 3D portrait if you want people to stop and stare.
"It's a gift and I'm not sure what they'd want." 3D magnet/ornament or a felted pet ornament. Small, safe, and they can decide later if they want something bigger.
"I have two (or three) pets." Classic 2D portrait in the 22x30cm or 24x36cm size. It's the most popular product with built-in multi-pet options and pricing.
"I want to wear it." Brooch. That's what it's for.
"Budget is under CHF 100." 2D ornament (CHF 56, EUR 62), brooch (CHF 58, EUR 64), 3D magnet 5-6cm (CHF 58, EUR 64), or small 2D pet head portrait (CHF 81, EUR 89).
"I want the biggest, most detailed thing you make." 3D sculpture, 26-30cm or larger. Allow 4-6 weeks and a budget of CHF 650+ (EUR 700+).
One thing they all have in common
Every piece on this list goes through the same process: we study your photos, pick wool to match your pet's colors, and build it by hand over 8-35 hours depending on the type. Every piece includes revisions until you're happy. Nothing ships until you approve it.
The difference between products is size, format, and where it ends up living. The quality of the work is the same across all of them.
